| The island of Amorgos has been a major center of the Cycladic civilization and due to this fact the landscape has been gifted with archaeological sites of important value. However, apart from its historical aspects, Amorgos is also a very traditional island, a fact that is reflected at every settlement of the beautiful landscape. |

| Amorgos is the most eastern island of the Cyclades cluster, a group of islands located in the heart of the Aegean ocean. Amorgos is situated at a very close distance to the island of Naxos. |

| MORPHOLOGY: |
| The morphology of this typical Cycladic landscape is divided in two different types. On the eastern part of the island, you will come across several abrupt coasts, while on the western part of the island you will find quiet small peninsulas and sandy bays. |
| SEASONS: |
| During the summer months Amorgos is a popular resort for couples and families, ideal for quiet and peaceful vacations. In winter the island is a very secluded place. |

SIGHTS:
The wall with the embrasures, the cistern "Kato Lakos", the tower of "Gavras", the post-Byzantine churches, the windmills, the ruins of the Hellenisitc tower, the ruins of the Venetian castle, the first high school of Greece and the Byzantine monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, at the town of Amorgos.
The acropolis, the church of Analipsi, the villages of Aegiali and the churches of Agia Triada, Agioi Anargiri and Agios Ioannis, at the settlement of Aegiali.
The ruins of the Ancient town and the ruins of the Hellenistic tower at the settlement of Arkesini.
The church of Panagia Katapoliani and the ruins of ancient Minoa, at the village of Katapola.

The big festival of Panagia Hozoviotissa on November the 21st and the festival of Christ on August the 6th, at the town of Amorgos.
The festival of Agioi Anargiri on July the 1st, the festival of Panagia Panohoriani on August the 15th and the festival of Stavros on September the 14th, at the settlement of Aegiali.

Amorgos or Hora The town of Amorgos is a skirmished traditional settlement that catches the eye from the first time. The dominating castle, situated on the top of the rock, the outspread white washed houses, the two squares and the stone paved alleys compose a very beautiful icon.
Aegiali Aegiali is the second port of the island of Amorgos and it is much frequented. The settlement consists of three beautiful villages, Lagada, Tholaria and Potamos. From Aegiali you can visit several amazing beaches.
Katapola Katapola is the central port of the island of Amorgos. Katapola comprisesof three settlements: Katapola, Rahidi and Xilokeratidi. The traditional Cycladic houses, interspersed all around the bay and over the hill, are a unique insular sightseeing.
Arkesini Arkesini is one of the most attractive villages of the island of Amorgos. Arkesini is located at the southern part of the island and it is full of traditional houses, narrow alleys and olive trees.

| TRANSPORTATION: |
BY FERRY: From Piraeus to the port of Aegiali and the port of Katapola, there are frequent timetables on summer, while in winter the itineraries are more rare. The duration of the journey is 8 hours and 35 minutes to Katapola and from Katapola to Aegiali the distance is only 30 minutes. Moreover, there are several itineraries from Rafina to the island of Amorgos with speedboats. Amorgos is also connected with the other Cyclades islands and the Dodekanissa islands.
