Lassithi is one of the four superb prefectures that compose the renowned island of Crete (Southern Greece). Located on the eastern part of the island, being the fourth consecutive prefecture, Lassithi borders with the prefecture of Heraklion. Lassithi comprises of the following four counties: Mirabello, Lassithi, Ierapetra and Sitia.
Agios Nikolaos
Lassithi has a unique multilateral morphology, combining infinite coasts, fertile plains as well as abrasive and mountainous landscapes.
It is highly recommended that you should visit the island of Crete on the summer months, which are considered to be the high tourist season. The bland climate and the mild weather of this season render Lassithi the ideal resort for your vacations.

Agios Nikolaos
Situated on the northwestern coast of the picturesque gulf of Mirabello, Agios Nikolaos is the capital of the prefecture of Lassithi. Cosmopolitan and scenic town, Agios Nikolaos is a popular tourist center, ideal for your holidays.

The island of Spinaloga
Spinaloga is an islet located at the northeastern part of the Elounda bay. Surrounded by a Venetian fortress that was built on 1584, Spinaloga is an interesting site that used to be a place of exile. You can reach the islet by trawler from Agios Nikolaos, Elounda or Plaka.
From Piraeus, there are frequent timetables to Agios Nikolaos and Sitia on summer, while in winter the itineraries are more rare. The distance from Piraeus to Agios Nikolaos is 12 hours, while the distance to Sitia is 14 hours. Agios Nikolaos and Sitia are also connected to the Dodekanissa and the Cyclades islands.

From the Eleftherios Venizelos airport at Spata, there are flights to the town of Sitia, all through the year. The duration of the flight is 1 hour and 25 minutes. The airport is located 2 km far from the town of Sitia.

From Thessalonica there are buses that shall transport you to Agios Nikolaos via ferry. Lassithi is also connected to the other prefectures of Crete.
